The Era of "Trust Me" is Over. The Era of "Verify Me" Has Begun.
For centralized exchanges (CEX), decentralized protocols (DEX), and FX/CFD brokers, customer and regulatory trust is your greatest liquidity. VeritasChain Protocol (VCP) transforms that trust into cryptographically verifiable facts—delivering a cryptographic audit layer that produces verifiable evidence of fairness and best execution, relevant to regulatory obligations.
VCP is not just a logging tool. It's an independent audit layer that runs parallel to your existing trading systems, cryptographically sealing every "decision" and "execution result" to create a tamper-evident, append-only chain of evidence.
Ed25519 digital signatures and Merkle trees with RFC 6962 domain-separated hashing, anchored externally, make tampering with anchored records detectable.
Built-in evidence relevant to MiFID II (RTS 25 clock synchronisation; best execution under Article 27), the EU AI Act, and GDPR—by design, not retrofit. Conformance does not by itself constitute legal compliance.
Crypto agility: the signature algorithm is identified per record; post-quantum algorithms (ML-DSA, FN-DSA) are EXPERIMENTAL in v1.2 RC1.
Speed, transparency, and trust—how VCP is designed to address each
Make Your Matching Engine's Integrity Verifiable
VCP-CORE assigns UUID v7 with high-precision timestamps at ingress, creating a hash-chained record. Once a batch has been externally anchored (every 10 minutes at Platinum tier), retroactive insertion or alteration of its orders is detectable.
Platinum Tier records matching events with PTPv2-synchronized timestamps, so that the recorded sequence of matching events can be audited against the venue's rules.
Beyond current Ed25519 signatures, VCP supports future migration to post-quantum cryptography (Dilithium), helping secure infrastructure for decades.
Give institutional clients tamper-evident, independently verifiable records of your order-book events.
MiFID II Evidence & B-Book Transparency
VCP logs supply tamper-evident execution data from which a firm's own tooling can compile best-execution analyses; report generation is not part of the VCP specification.
Respond to slippage complaints by presenting signed, externally anchored execution records that the customer can verify independently.
Record exact prices and times at order (ORD) and execution (ACK/EXE) moments, objectively demonstrating execution quality to customers and regulators.
Verifiable cryptographic evidence can shorten the fact-finding stage of a dispute; no measured figures are available yet.
Off-Chain Transparency, On-Chain Security
VCP Merkle-izes off-chain matching logs and periodically anchors the root hash to public blockchains—establishing "Layer-2 truth" with on-chain verifiability.
Record the off-chain ordering of transactions as tamper-evident events, so that the operator's record of the ordering can be examined after the fact. The record does not by itself show whether the ordering was fair.
Cross-chain operations record state transitions in VCP format, so that the operator's records can be checked for later alteration by third parties.
Achieve the speed of off-chain execution with the security of on-chain verification—the best of both CeFi and DeFi worlds.
VCP maps complex international regulatory requirements at the protocol specification level. Deploy once to produce evidence relevant to multiple regimes; conformance does not by itself constitute legal compliance.
Strict Clock Synchronization for HFT
High-frequency trading participants must maintain clock synchronization within 100 microseconds of UTC and timestamp events with a granularity of 0.1 microseconds or better (Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/1155, Annex IV, Table 2, which replaced MiFID II RTS 25 on 2 March 2026).
Platinum Tier mandates PTPv2 (IEEE 1588) with sub-microsecond precision. The ClockSyncStatus field continuously records synchronization state, providing audit-ready evidence.
Best Execution Evidence
Investment firms must take all sufficient steps to obtain the best possible result for clients and be able to demonstrate it (MiFID II Article 27). The periodic execution-quality reports of RTS 27 and RTS 28 are no longer required: Directive (EU) 2024/790 replaced Article 27(3) and deleted Article 27(6) (transposition by 29 September 2025).
VCP-TRADE module records execution price, slippage and rejection reasons as tamper-evident events that a firm can use as evidence in best-execution reviews. Report generation is outside the VCP specification.
High-Risk AI Transparency
High-risk AI systems listed in Annex III — in finance, creditworthiness evaluation of natural persons (point 5(b)) and risk assessment and pricing for life and health insurance (point 5(c)) — must meet requirements on data governance, technical documentation, record-keeping, transparency and human oversight from 2 December 2027. Algorithmic trading is not listed in Annex III.
VCP-GOV extension module records AI model hashes, decision factors used in judgments, and human operator IDs—providing explainability as tamper-evident, append-only logs.
Right to Be Forgotten
Individuals may request erasure of their personal data (Article 17), subject to exemptions such as statutory retention duties (Article 17(3)(b)), which typically cover trading records.
VCP-PRIVACY uses Crypto-Shredding—destroy encryption keys to render data unrecoverable while maintaining the log's append-only structure and integrity. Whether crypto-shredding amounts to erasure under the GDPR is jurisdiction- and case-dependent (VCP v1.2 RC1 §3.2.2).

VCP's design choices support financial precision, audit integrity, and future-proof security
Event IDs embed a timestamp in their leading bits, which makes them chronologically sortable. Detection of retroactive insertion comes from the Merkle tree and external anchoring, not from the identifier.
All financial values (price, quantity, fees) encoded as strings to eliminate floating-point errors. Ensures 1-cent/1-pips precision across languages and hardware.
The signature algorithm is identified in every record, so a move from Ed25519 to DILITHIUM2 (ML-DSA) or FALCON512 (FN-DSA) is possible; these are EXPERIMENTAL in v1.2 RC1 and not a certification requirement.
